7 Days of Something-Day 1
Quote of the day: The two most important days in your life are; the day you were born and the day you find out why.
Day 1- Challenge 1 – Know Thyself
For a very long time, I’ve set my mind on doing certain things but have successfully procrastinated them into extinction (which is not cool). I settled on a bucket list challenge to help me meet my short-term goals. 7 challenges for 7 days. Subsequently, it’s going to be 7 challenges laid out over the next 7 seven days on Inspired Lives (One of my many goals for Inspired Lives; A Post A Day For A Week).
FYI, this 7 Days “Bucket-List” Challenge isn’t one of those; I want to swim with the dolphins in Dubai or visit 50 countries or climb the great wall of China list. Those are ‘before I die’ to-do that don’t usually get done. This is a 7 days, realistic, procrastination-in-check bucketlist challenge: You, Yourself and You.
For starters. Get a notepad and a pen, pour yourself a cup of tea/coffee and sit in your favorite chair. Make a list of hindering words/phrases and strike them out of your vocabulary for the period of this challenge, these are mine; I wanted to, I used to, I can’t, I won’t, I shouldn’t, it’s impossible, I wasn’t, I don’t, No. etc. Cut out the negativity out. Negativity begets inhibitions and procrastination becomes you (true story).
THE FIRST CHALLENGE is the SWOT analysis. Make a list of what you’re good/great at. Make another list of what your greatest weaknesses are. Explore your capabilities, I.e. critically asses your strengths and figure out where your opportunities lie. An enthusiastic, outgoing and creative person could have a promising opportunity in the broadcasting industry.
Threats are the long-term effect of your weakness if they are not addressed. Plan, strategize, how can you help your weaknesses? You can eliminate threats by working on your weaknesses. Take your time and really think about this. Below is a random sample.
- What can I do?
- What do I suck at?
- What am I great at?
- What are my interests?
- What do I need to work on?
- What Stands in my way of success?
- What am I best suited for?
- What skills do I have?
Start with your greatest strength and your greatest weakness. You’ll find that starting with these sets the pace. I also find that another fun thing to do today with this challenge is to answer these questions and really let the answers help you improve;
If you were a color, what would you be? Why?…If you were an animal, which would You be, and why?
Take the time today to know where your strengths lie and work on them to create possibilities for yourself…Know thyself and know what you are really capable of. Explore the depths of your potential.
